The Airpura UV600 uses a UV germicidal lamp to offer complete air filtration effective against bacteria, antigens, pathogens, and mold spores as well as airborne chemicals and particles. The Airpura UV600 Advanced UV and Filter System

1. UV Germicidal Lamp: Sterilizes bacteria, viruses and mold spores by destroying the DNA of the microorganisms as they are trapped on the filters.  
   
   
   • The UV (ultraviolet) lamp is situated inside the filter chamber, so it kills microorganisms as they are trapped by the filters. Other UV machines place the UV lamp in the airflow, away from the filters. This allows microbes to escape back into the air.
   • 20 watt UV bulb provides the dose needed to kill antigens, pathogens, and mold spores.
   • UV lamp may be switched on or off separately as desired. Warning lamp indicates UV bulb status.
   • 17 inches germicidal surface U-shaped lamp lasts up to 10,000 hours; Two times the length of other makes and two times as effective.
2. Pre-filter: Outer pre-filter traps large particles you can easily see such as dust, hair, lint, and pet dander. The pre-filter can be easily vacuumed clean from the outside of the unit, and prolongs the life of the main filter. Replace once per year.
   
   
3. Carbon Filter: Large activated carbon filter contains 18 lbs of 2" deep carbon bed which adsorbs airborne chemicals, noxious gases, and odors. Lasts up to 2 years.
   
   
4. True HEPA Filter: 
   • UV600: 40 sq ft of certified medical-grade True HEPA filter media, which traps up to 99.97% of the smallest of microscopic particles down to 0.3 microns in size - particles you can't even see, including bacteria and viruses. Lasts up to 5 years.
